Mining is a complicated and dangerous industry where rock changes, moisture content, compression, etc. occur. Such facilities are of increased danger and are regulated by industrial safety requirements within the framework of the current regulatory system:

  • Federal Law of the Russian Federation dated July 21, 1997 No. 116-FZ (as amended on December 8, 2020) “Concerning the Industrial Safety of Hazardous Production Facilities”;
  • Federal Law of the Russian Federation dated December 21, 1994 No. 68 – Federal Law “Concerning the Protection of the Population and Areas Against Natural and Man-Made Emergencies” (as amended on June 23, 2020).

These requirements make it necessary to use structural health monitoring systems and geotechnical monitoring at mining industry facilities. The use of such systems makes it possible to monitor changes in parameters in a real-time environment and take measures to prevent emergency situations associated with the destruction of large engineering structures, for example, mine walls, casing pipes, mines. These systems are an important tool for ensuring worker safety, long-term facility operation, and enterprise operating efficiency.

Structural Health Monitoring System makes it possible to quickly identify potential threats such as cracks, deformations, corrosion and other damage and take the measures necessary for solving these problems.

Geotechnical monitoring is also of great importance for mining facilities due to changes in geological conditions. It can be used to monitor rock deformation, surface slope, stress changes, groundwater depth and other factors that may adversely affect the safety and performance of the facility. The use of geotechnical monitoring aids to prevent possible hazardous situations such as collapses or landslides, which can lead to loss of life.

Scientific and Technical Centre Integrated Monitoring Systems, LLC offers comprehensive and effective solutions for monitoring mining industry facilities.
