Design of Structural Health Monitoring Systems (SHMS)
Beams, bearing parts, walls, floor slabs – this is only the smallest list of load-bearing structures, the performance characteristics of which determine the stability and integrity of the entire facility.
That is why it is so important to systematically monitor their condition. A separate group of specialists can be allocated for these purposes, the main field of activity of which is the collection of current indicators regarding deviations from the rate of current design parameters. However, such measurements are labor-intensive and require highly qualified engineers. Besides, no one has canceled the human factor, so inaccuracies and errors in the results are inevitable.
Instead, most enterprising industrial managers skillfully use the design and integration service of SHMS (Structural Health Monitoring Systems).
Important: the implementation of such an automated monitoring system for load-bearing structures will make it possible to avoid emergency situations associated with the falling-down of structures for various purposes, correctly plan the budget for overhaul repairs of buildings and structures, and, more importantly, avoid human casualties.
Please contact the Scientific and Technical Centre Integrated Monitoring Systems, LLC to order the development of SHMS.
Our staff consists of qualified design department specialists, surveyors and analysts, which makes us possible to design and implement hardware and software systems considering all the individual peculiarities of industrial buildings and structures.
Scientific and Technical Centre Integrated Monitoring Systems, LLC: development and integration of automated monitoring systems for load-bearing structures for the facilities of various purposes.
SHMS is a hardware and software package based on an engineering system. Its main practical purpose is continuous monitoring of the condition of load-bearing units (columns, supports, floor beams, etc.) and other critically important structural elements of the facility. GOST R 22.1.12-2005 is the main technical standard according to the requirements of which the design and development of SHMS is fulfilled.
For reference: the automated monitoring system for load-bearing structures has several names. For example, in an area with a significant concentration of industrial facilities, it is referred to as a “system for monitoring buildings and structures (SMBS)” (it also includes automated geotechnical monitoring in this version);
in the service area of hydroelectric power plants – “an automated system for interrogating control and measuring equipment (ASI CME) or an automated system for diagnostic monitoring of control and measuring equipment of hydraulic structures.”
Our engineers will design and implement a SHMS system for a wide variety of facilities, including:
- bridge structures and tunnels;
- unique architectural objects (monuments, museums, buildings and structures of historical heritage);
- civil facilities (for example, stadiums or shopping centers);
- buildings and structures for industrial purposes (factories, plants, technological enterprises);
- dams and barrages;
- multi-storey buildings (high-rise buildings and skyscrapers);
- facilities located in a region with unstable geological processes (karsts, high groundwater levels, loose and unstable soil, etc.).
