Design of intelligent transportation systems
Increasing traffic intensity, building integrated highways and traffic interchanges, modernizing production technology and the emergence of modern wheeled vehicles with artificial intelligence programs – all these innovations require a unique approach to the design and implementation of traffic control systems.
It is necessary to implement intelligent transportation systems (ITS) in order to ensure the safety and efficiency of transport infrastructure.
It should be understood that the development of ITS assumes an individual project approach, which will consider a lot of fundamental aspects.
It is important that only a small part of the key nuances that should be considered when it is a case of designing intelligent transportation systems:
- the presence of existing main arteries, traffic regulators (road markings, lane demarcations, information signs);
- geological features of the terrain (elevation differences, number of hills, ravines, artificial and natural reservoirs);
- category of priority transport for traffic (passenger cars, special equipment, trucks and refrigerators, intercity buses).
